Independent gear reviews, scored the same way every time.

Nearly every well-ranked buying guide in this hobby is published by a store, whose picks are constrained to what it stocks. Tank & Tech is not a store. Our wedge is independence and structure: an explicit, published scoring method applied the same way to everything.

We cover filters, heaters, lights, test kits, water conditioners, filter media, fish food and fertilisers — equipment a beginner has to get right early. We deliberately do not cover livestock, disease or medication as recommendations.

It exists because we got tired of store-shaped “best of” lists that never name the thing that scores badly. Ours do.
